Rwanda Peaberry

from £9.50

Processing method: Washed

Varietal: Bourbon

SCA Cup Score: 86

“Peaberry” refers to the shape of the coffee bean. While most coffee cherries contain two beans facing each other with one flat side and one rounded one, occasionally you will find coffee cherries that contain only a single bean. These are completely round in shape, and many will say they have a slightly different flavour. This coffee consists entirely of peaberries, hence the name.

Produced by Rwamatamu Coffee, a family business in the beautiful Lake Kivu district. Currently they are in the process of gaining their organic and fair-trade certifications. They work to have a positive social and economic impact on farmer communities, focusing on women in particular.

A delicate tea-like coffee with notes of blackberry and hibiscus and a somewhat savoury, peppery, spiced finish.
